font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span>Services Provided<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Temporary financial assistance<\/li>\n<li>Case management<\/li>\n<li>Assistance in obtaining VA benefits<\/li>\n<li>Assistance in obtaining public benefits<\/li>\n<li>Outreach<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Referrals are submitted by Veterans Affairs, self-referrals, walk-ins and other local agencies that provide services to Veterans.<br \/>\nWe serve Veteran families from Jackson, MS south to the coast.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Temporary Financial Assistance<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Eligible participants may receive temporary financial assistance in the following ways:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Rental assistance<\/li>\n<li>Utility payment assistance<\/li>\n<li>Deposit payment assistance (security and utility deposits)<\/li>\n<li>Moving costs<\/li>\n<li>Emergency supplies<\/li>\n<li>Transportation assistance<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Case Management<\/strong><br \/>\nEach eligible participant will be assigned a Veterans Resource Specialist to ensure that participants receive the assistance needed to promote housing stability.<br \/>\nVeterans Resource Specialists will:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Consult with participants to conduct needs assessments and create individualized housing stability plans.<\/li>\n<li>Monitor participants from time of intake until they exit the program.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong> Assistance in Obtaining VA Benefits<\/strong><br \/>\nIf the eligible participant is not receiving services from the VA, Veterans Resource Specialists will make participants aware of the services for which he or she may be eligible for and offer to refer the participants to the nearest VA facility.<br \/>\nIf the eligible participant is already receiving services from the VA, Veterans Resource Specialists will focus on what additional services the participant may need, want and be eligible for.<br \/>\n<strong>Assistance in Obtaining VA Benefits<\/strong><br \/>\nVeterans Resource Specialists will assist eligible participants in obtaining and coordinating other public benefits in the area including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Healthcare services<\/li>\n<li>Healthcare navigation<\/li>\n<li>Income support services (disability, social security, TANF, unemployment assistance, SNAP\/food stamps)<\/li>\n<li>Legal services<\/li>\n<li>Child care services<\/li>\n<li>Personal financial planning services<\/li>\n<li>Transportation services<\/li>\n<li>Employment assistance<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/pbmhrmis.com\/?attachment_id=151\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-151\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-151 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/pbmhrmis.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/shutterstock_61394749.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"450\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"http:\/\/southmsveteransresources.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/shutterstock_61394749.jpg 1000w, http:\/\/southmsveteransresources.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/shutterstock_61394749-300x200.jpg 300w, http:\/\/southmsveteransresources.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/shutterstock_61394749-768x512.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 450px) 85vw, 450px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h2 id=\"ProgramCriteria\">Program Criteria<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Veteran Status<\/strong><br \/>\nSSVF will verify veteran status through one of the following documents:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>DD214<\/li>\n<li>VBA Statement of Service<\/li>\n<li>VHA Veteran&#8217;s ID card<\/li>\n<li>VISTA printout from VHA healthcare provider<\/li>\n<li>HINQA<\/li>\n<li>NA13038<\/li>\n<li>VBA award letter<\/li>\n<li>Veterans Choice Card<\/li>\n<li>VA photo ID card<\/li>\n<li>SQUARES<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Homelessness Criteria<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Category 1: Residing in permanent housing, but a risk of losing their housing and becoming literally homeless.<br \/>\nCategory 2: Homeless and scheduled to become a resident of permanent housing within 90 days pending the location or development of suitable permanent housing.<br \/>\nCategory 3: Exited permanent housing in the last 90 days to seek other housing responsive to the family\u2019s needs and preferences.<br \/>\n<strong>Income Inclusions<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Earned income (wages\/salaries)<\/li>\n<li>Self-employment\/business income<\/li>\n<li>Pension\/retirement income<\/li>\n<li>Unemployment and disability income<\/li>\n<li>Armed forces income<\/li>\n<li>Interest and dividend income<\/li>\n<li>TANF\/public assistance<\/li>\n<li>Alimony and child support income<\/li>\n<li>G.I. Bill Housing stipend<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 id=\"FrequentlyAskedQuestions\">Frequently Asked Questions<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Are the programs associated with Pine Belt Mental Health?<\/strong><br \/>\nPine Belt Mental Health was awarded the SSVF grant by the Department of Veterans Affairs. SSVF staff members are employed through PBMHR, but SSVF participants do not have to be a PBMHR client.<br \/>\n<strong>Do I have to be honorably discharged to qualify for these programs?<\/strong><br \/>\nIn order to be eligible for SSVF, the Veteran must have a discharge status that is anything other than dishonorable.<br \/>\n<strong>Are the programs only offered to Veterans who reside in Jackson, MS to the coast?<\/strong><br \/>\nThis specific SSVF program works with participants who reside in Jackson, MS south to the coast. However, most other states in the country have at least one SSVF program.
